The Ottawa Senators are looking to rebound from Saturdays 6-3 road setback against the rival Toronto Maple Leafs as they head to the CONSOL Energy Centre for a date with the Eastern Conference-leading Pittsburgh Penguins. Watch the Senators vs. Penguins live tonight on TSN at 7pm et/4pm pt. The Senators led 2-0 early in the second period, but the Maple Leafs scored six of the games final seven goals to take the tilt in regulation. Toronto winger Phil Kessel capped his fifth career hat trick with the game-winning goal at 14:02 of the third period. Chris Neil posted two goals and an assist while Colin Greening also had a goal and an assist for the Senators. Craig Anderson allowed five goals on 36 shots in the loss. "I felt we played hard. We gave up some chances in the second, but I thought we settled it down there in the third and got back after them," said Neil. "I dont think its a 6-3 hockey game, thats for sure. It was pretty close back and forth." Ottawa fell to 12-10-5 as the visiting team this season after Saturdays setback. The Sens will close a three-game road trip when they visit St. Louis on Tuesday. Erik Karlsson had a goal and two assists in Decembers blowout win over the Pens. The talented defenseman has 13 points (3 goals, 10 assists) in 13 career games versus Pittsburgh. Anderson is 5-4-1 with a 2.24 goals against average in 12 career games against the Pens, while Fleury is 9-9-1 with a 3.41 GAA in this matchup. The Penguins and Senators met for the first of three scheduled encounters in 2013-14 on Dec. 23 in Ottawa, and the home team recorded a 5-0 rout. Along with a 5-1 road loss to the New York Rangers on Nov. 6 and a 5-1 setback against visiting Florida on Jan. 20, it marked the only time Pittsburgh was defeated by a margin of four or more goals this season. Pittsburgh had won three straight in the regular-season series against the Sens before that December loss and Ottawa enters Monday having lost four of five in the Steel City. That doesnt include last seasons playoff encounter in the Eastern Conference semifinals, which the top-seeded Pens won in five games. The Penguins enter Monday leading the East with 78 points, but the talented club was dealt a regulation loss Saturday at Phoenix. Mike Smith stopped 23- of-24 shots to help the Coyotes register a 3-1 victory over Pittsburgh in the desert. Evgeni Malkin had the only goal of the game for the Penguins, who had won four of five entering the contest. Malkin passed Ron Francis for fifth place on Pittsburghs all-time scoring list with the goal, which represented the Russians 614th career point. Marc-Andre Fleury gave up all three goals on 30 shots in the loss. "I thought we played a real good game and their guy made some really strong saves," said Pittsburgh captain Sidney Crosby. "They played a pretty tight game and when you dont cash in on your chances youre not going to win." Pittsburgh defenseman Kris Letang missed his second straight game due to an illness and he is questionable for Monday. Fellow Pens blueliner Olli Maatta is also questionable after getting hit in the face with a puck on Saturday. The Pens boast a 22-4-0 record on home ice this season and have won 15 of their last 16 games as the host. Vapormax Femme Solde . The injury was caused in the second minute of Tuesdays 4-1 league win over Real Sociedad in the Camp Nou when teammate Sergio Busquets accidentally struck Mascherano just above the knee with an outstretched boot.TORONTO - It wasnt until practice let out that Raptors players learned about the news sending shockwaves around the NBA early Sunday afternoon. Kevin Durant, the leagues reigning MVP, could be sidelined for up to eight weeks with a right foot fracture that may require surgery. The Raptors were already in the gym as word of the injury spread over social media. Its very tough, man, its very tough, said Raptors guard Greivis Vasquez, a good friend and high school teammate of Durant, as he processed the information. I didnt know about KD, I just found out and Im going to pray for him and hopefully he comes back even stronger. Durant is just the latest star player to sustain a significant injury before the start of the upcoming regular season. Wizards talented third-year guard Bradley Beal broke his wrist in an exhibition contest last week, an injury that required surgery and will keep him out of action for roughly two months. Celtics all-star point guard Rajon Rondo broke his hand in a freak accident at home. And then theres Paul George, whose gruesome leg injury in a Team USA scrimmage over the summer will cost him his entire season. Its just hard, Vasquez added. Our sport is very physical and injuries are part of the sport, unfortunately. The NBA is going to continue. Like many others around the Association, Raptors head coach Dwane Casey has taken notice and plans to exercise caution before the stakes rise at the end of the month. Were going to be smart with it, Casey said Sunday, promising to monitor the minutes of his prized backcourt - DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry - closely for the duration of the pre-season. The list of recently fallen star players serves as further proof that injury prevention is not a simple proposition. High performance athletes, like anyone else really, can get hurt anywhere, at any time, whether its the result of overexertion or simply bad luck. You can slip down the stairs and hurt yourself, DeRozan noted. The Raptors were fortunate witth good health a year ago, losing just 52 games to injury or illness, fewest in the NBA.dddddddddddd While Torontos training and medical staff, one of the leagues finest, deserve credit there are far too many variables - some of them luck dependent - to count on that good fortune repeating itself in 2014-15. For a team with their sights set on April and May, the risk of setting an impact player back before games begin to matter is just not worth it. You can work hard but weve got to be smart in making sure we are efficient with [their] minutes on the floor, said Casey. That way [they] maintain that rhythm offensively and also establishes our defensive identity but we dont want to wear out everything in exhibition, especially with the guys who are going to have high minutes in regular season play. Both of Torontos starting guards logged career-highs in minutes played last season. Only two players, Durant and the Mavericks Monta Ellis, saw more court time than DeRozan. By late March, Casey and his staff were forced to cut back on Lowrys minutes as the aches and pains of a long season began to catch up with him. Meanwhile, DeRozan - coming off a busy summer, playing for USA in the FIBA World Cup - hasnt had much time for rest since the Raptors were eliminated in seven games during the first round of the playoffs. Looking to be in mid-season form, theyve each hit the ground running in exhibition but, through three games, Lowry is playing just over 26 minutes per night and DeRozan has logged an average of 22. The Raptors will be halfway through their eight-game pre-season slate following Mondays contest in New York. Casey intends to utilize the next couple weeks to experiment with different lineups, take a look at some of the teams younger players and, hopefully, manufacture some much-needed rest for his two workhorses. He didnt rule out the possibility of giving them a night off before the regular season gets underway on Oct. 29, at home to the Atlanta Hawks. ' ' '
